Congratulations to our 12 Border Blades who competed at the 2020 AWG in Airdrie this weekend! Thank you to coaches and chaperones, Bill S, Ken B, Taylor L and Rachel C for their time and effort in ensuring our skaters were competing at their very best.
Congratulations to our skaters for being selected to the Zone 7 AWG team!

Next Steps Skaters: Skaters must be registered for AWG 2020 ASAP. You will need to print and fill out the waiver to upload during the application. There is a $50 fee, used to cover food and transportation for the games. If you are not able to attend the games, please let Bill know ASAP! We have a number of skaters on the list, and would be able to take fill spot skaters. The registration is online at the following: AWG Registration.
We will be starting long track practices sporadically over the break, and then hit it full swing every Monday and Wednesday in January and February.
Parents: If you are interested in volunteering as a technical official, please let me know ASAP. I will forward your name to the Officials committee. If you are accepted, you will also need to register as an official for the games.
If you have any questions or concerns, please speak to Bill or Taylor. Again, great work by all of our skaters this year. Bill and Taylor
The Border Blades will be doing a bottle drive in the new year, so please start saving your bottles now!
Date: January 4th, 2020 Time: 10:00-2:00 Place: Meet in the parking lot by the Speed Den (at the SSC by the outdoor Oval)
Kids to wear Border Blades toques/jackets if they have one
We are doing things a little different this year. We are still coordinating the bottle drive from the outdoor oval Speed Den however once a load of bottles has been collected it will then be unloaded right at the Lloydminster Bottle Depot. No more loading a large trailer! After unloading your truck you then return to the Speed Den for your next route map.
NOTE: Arrangements have been made with the Lloydminster Bottle depot to accept bottle donations all year long. Let the staff know that the bottle money is to go to the Lloydminster Border Blades Speed Skating Club. This DOES NOT replace the bottle drive.
